Better known in the tattoo business as “Renegade,” J. E. Brovage was a proud 1957 graduate of the Zeis School of Tattooing and had the certificate to prove it! Brovage was a carnival tattooist, sign and show painter, cartoonist, and was a scrimshaw artist. Through the years Brovage had shops in Michigan, Texas, Kentucky and West Virginia.
