Carter’s Ink Company was founded in Boston in 1858 by William Carter and remained family-owned until 1975. The Jersey Bulletin was an organization dedicated to promoting the Jersey breed of dairy cattle.
The company also produced animal-marking products that helped dairy farmers identify their herds. Carter’s Ink manufactured and marketed this tattoo ink for that purpose.
