Arguably the most famous couple in tattoo history. Both Frank and Annie Howard were born in Providence, Rhode Island in the 1850s and went on to worldwide fame with the Barnum & Bailey Circus. After their circus years they settled in Boston and it is said that Frank operated the largest tattoo shop in the United States.
