Born in 1921, Merle Rowe, better known as Tex, received his first tattoo in 1934. Until his passing in 2009, Tex led an extraordinary and varied life: he was a soldier, tattoo artist, animal handler, arcade owner, sideshow talker, and much, much more. The sheet shown here dates to the 1960s.
