Van Dyn was a regular at Speakers’ Corner in London’s Hyde Park. On any given Sunday he would tell anyone who would listen about his life story. He claimed at one time he was Al Capone’s bodyguard; he said that he spent time in San Quentin and Sing Sing prisons and was a sparring partner for Jack Dempsey. Everyone took this with a grain of salt. He was undoubtedly tattooed and he claimed that some of it was done by the famed London tattooist George Burchett. At one time Van Dyn offered his head for sale but only after his death could you collect.
